Health and Safety policy

It is the policy of Smerdon Tree Services (STS) Ltd to comply with the terms of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and related legislation, to provide and maintain a healthy and safe working environment. The company health and safety objective is to minimise the number of instances of occupational accidents and illnesses, and ultimately achieve an accident-free workplace.

All employees will be provided with equipment, information, training, instruction, and supervision as is necessary to implement the policy and achieve the stated objective.

The company shall make adequate financial provision for the purchasing of PPE and for the training and development of its employees either conducted in-house or utilising external training providers. A training and development plan will be used to assist in the continued professional development (CPD) of all employees.

Environmental Policy & Green Agenda

It is the policy of Smerdon Tree Services (STS) Ltd whilst undertaking our work to comply with British / European Environmental legislation. To manage all our business activities as such and in line with ISO 14001. To reduce the amount of waste we produce, promote recycling where possible and prevent pollution. We try to reduce our energy and greenhouse gas emissions in line with our Green Agenda. Smerdon Tree Services (STS) Ltd are committed to upgrading equipment and vehicles to renewable energy alternatives, it is Smerdon Tree Services (STS) Ltd’s ambition to have 100% of new management vehicles fully electric by 2025 and to eliminate all vehicles with internal combustion engines within the company by 2030. It is also our goal to replacing 50% of our hand-held tools to battery operated by 2028.
